Suter leads Lincoln over Des Moines, 5-2

The Lincoln Stars' Will Suter had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers.

Suter's tallies came short handed at 3:44 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Lincoln and 18:45 into the third to make the score 4-2 Lincoln.

Lincoln was not heavily penalized during the game, and finished with six minors and one major totalling 27 minutes. The Stars fell short of the 43.0 minutes average penalties per game. Lincoln stifled Des Moines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Lincoln also got points from Zach Frye, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Eric Scheid, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Lincoln received assists from Tommy Schutt, who had two and Daniel Willett, Paul LaDue, and Justin Woods, who contributed one a piece.

The Buccaneers were helped by Marcus Ericsson, who registered one goal. Ericsson scored 8:09 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Luke Voltin picked up the assist. Des Moines also got a goal from Michael Marnell as well. More assists for Des Moines came via Luke Shiplo, who had one.

Michael Bitzer rejected 28 shots on goal for the Stars. Lincoln registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For the Stars, Dominik Shine was ejected from the game. Billy Christopoulos recorded 25 saves for Des Moines. The Buccaneers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
