Cedar Rapids falls to Muskegon in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Muskegon Lumberjacks pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on a clutch goal by Ben Foster.

Cedar Rapids could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Muskegon made it 2-0 on a goal by Cullen Hurley at 13:47 in the second period. The RoughRiders got to within 2-1 on a goal by Davey Middleton at 11:01 in the third period.

In a losing effort, Cedar Rapids was sparked by Middleton, who grabbed two goals.

The Lumberjacks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cedar Rapids power plays. Muskegon was below its usual level of shot production, taking 19 shots compared to the 26.0 the Lumberjacks average.

Max Shuart also scored for Muskegon. Other players who recorded assists for Muskegon were Rasmus Bengtsson, Chad McDonald, Campbell Elyuik, and Conor Garland, who each chipped in one.

The RoughRiders relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Middleton, Judd Peterson and Clay Anderson took 13 of the team's 25 shots.

In addition, Cedar Rapids received assists from Dylan McLaughlin and Andrew Oglevie, who contributed one a piece.

Muskegon's Jordan Uhelkski stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Lumberjacks totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Chad Gatt rejected 16 shots on goal for Cedar Rapids. The RoughRiders ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
