Des Moines downs Omaha, 6-2
Jack Jenkins racked up one point to lead the Des Moines Buccaneers to a 6-2 victory over the Omaha Lancers.
Des Moines bested its season scoring average. The Buccaneers have scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The 39 shots that Des Moines put on net surpassed the Buccaneers' average of 31.0 shots per game this season.
Des Moines additionally got points from Zach Saar, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Des Moines also got a goal from James Roll as well. Other players who recorded assists for Des Moines were Trent Samuels-Thomas, Eric Martinsson, Michael Marnell, and Max Birkinbine, who each chipped in one.
Omaha forced Des Moines goalie Nick Ellis to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.
The Lancers were helped by Connor Chatham, who had one goal. Chatham scored 15:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Alex Rauter picked up the assist. Eli Lichtenwald also scored for Omaha. More assists for Omaha came via Tyler Moy and Tyler Hynes, who contributed one a piece.
The Buccaneers' Ellis stopped 43 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Des Moines was hit with 20 minutes in penalty time with four majors. Alex Lyon rejected 33 shots on goal for Omaha. The Lancers totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
